The Royal Horticultural Society has revealed the first details about gardens that will appear at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2025 at its Autumn Conference.
The first announcement arrived early this morning with the news that Monty Don will be designing his first ever garden at Chelsea. The RHS and Radio 2 Dog Garden will celebrate the nation's love of dogs and the gardens we share with them.
Monty Don tuned in from home to discuss the garden. He said he was excited to be involved in the project, and that his dog Ned has been acting as a consultant on the design process to far. Jamie Butterworth of Form Plants will lead on creating the garden at the show and plans to include plants such as dogwoods. It will find its forever home at Battersea Dogs Home just across the river from the Chelsea Flower Show site after the show has finished.

Themes for the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2025 will be innovation, natural landscapes and the future with the idea of 'your space, your story' running throughout.
The Newt in Somerset, which continues to sponsor the Chelsea Flower Show, will create a Karoo Succulent Garden inspired by its sister estate Babylonstoren in South Africa.
Other designs that have been announced include The Avande 'Intelligent Garden' designed by Tom Massey, who created the gold-medal winning WaterAid Garden alongside Je Ahn at The Chelsea Flower Show in 2024.
The Avande Garden will use AI technology to feed data back to the owner about conditions in the garden, making it easier for people to garden more sustainably. There will be a digital twin of the garden for visitors to to access via QR code to see the future. It is hoped that this will empower gardeners - it will become a community garden in London after the show and a test-bed for this sort of development.
Catherine MacDonald will be designing a garden for Boodles again this year, named The Boodles Raindance Garden. Another familiar face in the line-up is Kazuyuki Ishihara, who is designing the Cha no Niwa Japanese Tea Garden, sponsored by Calmic Japan. Killik & Co are also returning with designer Baz Grainger to bring the Killik & Co Futureproof Garden to Chelsea 2025. The London Square Developments and Chelsea Pensioners Garden designed by Dave Green will be a garden designed for Chelsea Pensioners and their friends and family, with woodland space.
Project Giving Back will continue to sponsor a number of gardens at Chelsea in 2025. These include:
- Hospice UK: Garden of Compassion designed by Tom Hoblyn
- The King's Trust Garden: Seeding Success designed by Joe Perkins
- The Glasshouse Garden designed by Jo Thompson
- Down's Syndrome Scotland Garden designed by Duncan Hall
- The Pathway Garden designed by Allon Hoskin and Robert Beaudin
These come after announcements that PGB would extend funding at Chelsea into 2026.
Manoj Malde, who made a splash at Chelsea in 2023 by getting married on his RHS Feature Garden will this year be designing the Tackle HIV Challenging Stigma Garden, sponsored by ViiV Healthcare. Other gardens that have been announced include Ros Coutts-Harwood's Children with Cancer "A Place to BE" garden and the Carey Garden Design Studio's Addleshaw Goddard: Freedom to Flourish Garden focusing on personal restoration and wellbeing. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation are also sponsoring a garden this year: Garden of the Future, designed by Matthew Butler and Joshua Parker.
With plenty more announcements to come before May 2025, it is already shaping up to be a great show.
