Each year, visitors to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show have the chance to vote on the gardens they loved the most. This year, voting was open for the BBC/RHS People's Choice Award in three categories. These were Show Garden, Balcony/Container Garden and Sanctuary/All About Plants Garden. The winners were announced on the BBC on Friday 27 May.
Winner of the People's Choice for the Show Gardens went to the Perennial Garden 'With Love' designed by Richard Miers.
Commenting on the award Richard said: “Wow! You voted and we won! A huge thank you to everyone who voted. And to the thousands of people who came to see the garden. We’ve talked about everything from hawthorns and wildlife to who you’d share our Alfred Lord Tennyson quote with: "If I had a flower for every time I thought of you."
"This award is even more special because it helps to raise awareness of, and support for, Perennial, the charity supporting everyone working with plants, trees, flowers and grass."
Paul Newman, Perennial's chief executive said: "To be recognised by 'The People' as their favourite garden at Chelsea 2022 is overwhelming. Richard Miers' extraordinary design for the Perennial Garden 'With Love' has generated such a positive response from everyone who has seen it. We are simply thrilled with how effectively it has shared our message of love and support for everyone in the industry."
The Perennial Garden With Love also won silver earlier this week, in the medals awarded to the Show Gardens at this year's Chelsea Flower Show. Read the full list of Show Garden medalists here.
The People’s Choice Best Balcony / Container Garden was Wild Kitchen Garden, designed by Ann Treneman. It also won a Silver Gilt medal earlier in the week.
People’s Choice Best Sanctuary / All About Plants Garden was the Mothers for Mothers garden 'This Too Shall Pass', designed by Pollyanna Wilkinson.
