The RHS has revealed the winner of this year's RHS Chelsea Garden Product of the Year as part of Virtual RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
The Vegebag, by Vegepod UK, a garden growing tool, enabling gardeners to produce crops in small spaces all year round, took the prize. This year's prize was judged by a panel of experts including Dragon's Den investor Deborah Meaden and Chris Harrop.
The Vegebag has an enviro-mesh protective barrier, which keeps pests and animals at bay and ensures the plants get the air and water they need. It is an ideal size for city gardening.
Chair Harrop said: “Reflecting the challenging times we are all living in and what seems to have become the ‘new normal’ the RHS Chelsea Garden Product of the Year judges met virtually to discuss an excellent shortlist of new products for 2020.
“The current lockdown has unleashed a wave of passion across the country for all things gardening and particularly for growing fruit and vegetables, and after detailed debate and inspired by the mood of the nation the judges are delighted to announce that the Vegebag by Vegepod is this year’s winner.”
The announcement came during the very first Virtual RHS Chelsea Flower Show, which began on Monday and runs until Saturday 23 May.
In conjunction with this competition, the public are also being asked to vote for their favourite product from the shortlist as well as choose their RHS Plant of the Decade. Vote for your favourite here.
