Visitors to the RHS Chelsea Flower Show this year can expect, among many other highlights, to see some royal tributes celebrating the life of Queen Elizabeth II and the coronation of King Charles III.
The royal family, particularly the late Queen Elizabeth, have a long history of visiting the showground. The Queen visited Chelsea in 2022, and over 50 times previously in her 70-year reign. Helena Pettit, RHS Director of Shows and Gardens said that the Queen's absence would be "profoundly felt by many," but hopes that this year's royal tributes will "help keep those happy memories alive."

Royal tributes at Chelsea Flower Show 2023
A Garden of Royal Reflection and Celebration
Designer Dave Green has created a garden featuring a palette of light pinks and whites, enclosed by hedging to create a space for contemplation. Rose 'Olivia Austin' and silver birches will be featured to reflect Queen Elizabeth II's tastes. Also included will be blues, purples and pinks such as magnolia 'Heaven Scent,' clematis 'Duchess of Cornwall,' lupins and geraniums to represent the King's preferences according to Sandringham's Head Gardener, Jack Lingfield.
Also featured in the garden there will be drifts of Camassia, reminiscent of the meadows in front of Highgrove House as well as a bronze statue of the King and several woodland trees. Specialist growers including Raymond Evison, Hare Spring Cottage Plants and David Austin will be providing the plants.
Agrumi Topiary Art
In the Great Pavilion at Chelsea, Agrumi Topiary Art will be creating a display depicting 'Emma,' the fell pony who stood to attention along the drive of Windsor Castle to pay her respects at the Queen's cortege passed on the day of the funeral.
The Queen's funeral flowers were highly regarded.
Harkness Roses
Harkness Roses will be creating a display inspired by the British flag as a celebration of the coronation of King Charles III.
If you're hoping to celebrate the coronation, why not attend one of these coronation garden events. Or, of you're looking to host at home, we've rounded up some of the best coronation garden party accessories.
Ottershaw Cacti
Also in celebration of the coronation, Ottershaw Cacti are launching the new Aeonium 'Coronation,' a fleshy-leafed succulent.
Last year's winner for the RHS Plant of the Year was a succulent.
