Despite a wealth of knowledge circulating on social media and the internet, houseplant hobbyists still have endless questions. We found that many of our customers were struggling with basic houseplant care, and this led to us writing a book, but we still get asked the same questions today.

One of the most commonly asked questions we hear is 'how do you repot houseplants and when is the best time to repot them?'.
We explain exactly how to repot your houseplants below.
How to repot your houseplants
The best time to repot your houseplant is in the active growing season, so either spring or summer. If you repot when the plant is not in active growth, you may over water them.
If you find yourself watering more than usual, it probably means you need to repot. But also if you see roots growing through the bottom of your current pot, that's a sign too.

Most multi-purpose houseplant composts will do for repotting; we also add perlite to our compost for extra aeration.
Try to make sure you shake and tap the pot as you fill it with compost to make sure it doesn't have any air pockets.
